about

SEA BURIAL / BLUE TREASURE is the latest release from Iowa-based post-hardcore/pop band Hunter Dumped Us Here. Originally formed as a solo project making electronic music with feelings, the music has morphed into an upbeat and meaningful blend of rock/indie/folk/post-hardcore. This double single release showcases the band's passion and future musical direction. The songs are written as a two part story of a man who drowns in order to save his friend, and finds something better at the bottom.

Track Name: Sea Burial
Well my friend looks like a coffin
Nailed shut with vices kept
Tried to fill it with a woman
But she sunk it to the depths
Went to see him at the bottom
Tacked a note into the wood
It read "though you sank a weak man
I'll remember you as good.
I'm sorry you gave up on your dreams,
I'd take your place if I could.
But I've still got songs I've gotta sing.
You could join me, I wish you would,"

You're scared to pray that you won't ever die before you're born
But prayers are just like wishes that you want a little more
This country is a wasteland and a talent stifling whore
You had better find a purpose to clutch tightly in the storm

Well I can't swim with this coffin
Tried to wrench it from the deep
Tried to pull those evil nails out
But they cracked and chipped my teeth
Now I leave you at the bottom
Watching water rot the wood
When you said "I have to get out"
I didn't know you meant for good
I hope you have what you need
This place seems so lonely and gray
I owe you a pretty song at least
Like the ones we used to write all day

You're scared to pray that you won't ever die before you're born
But prayers are just like wishes that you want a little more
This country is a wasteland and a talent stifling whore
You had better hide your purpose to clutch tightly in the storm

If I die build a case
Sink it in the sea
I will find my friend
We'll sing songs again
Then no one can say
That we died in vain

Are you even how I used to think I knew you
Now you're just a veil that I can barely see through
Track Name: Blue Treasure
While I'm on the ocean floor with wreckage drifting by
All my friends are above the surface getting drunk and high
And I imagine they will until the day they die

I can hear their cries screaming at what they've found
I sincerely doubt they'll tell a soul in town
Maybe sink a bottled-message asking "why'd you drown"
While I'm screaming back "look at all the treasure I've found"

When I drink the holy peaceful water, I feel better
Digging trenches in the ocean floor I-I-I-I found some blue treasure
I will store it in my aching chest now- she makes my heart better
Sometimes the rarest of comforts can last forever and ever and ever and ever and ahhhh!

You insist on staying buried in the fruitless dirt
Burning holes in your skin screaming "this don't hurt"
Well you swear that you were truthful but I bet you weren't

No

I tried to walk on the water but I had no faith
So I sunk beneath the surface and developed a trace
Now as far as God goes I've got a pretty good take
But even better - I can smell a fake from miles away

When I drink the holy peaceful water, I feel better
Digging trenches in the ocean floor I-I-I-I found some blue treasure
I will store it in my aching chest now- she makes my heart better
Sometimes the rarest of comforts can last forever and ever and ever and ever

I'm tired of running with my heart cut out I'm gonna raise my voice, I'm gonna scream and shout
And if we die while yelling
At least we died loud

Well there's water in my lungs but you know baby
I feel better
